Your Natural Look

Blown away by the price and fakiness of the so-called natural look?

Take matters into your own hands!

By Colleen Gibson

When I say the natural or windblown look, you know what I mean, right? Sure you do. We have all seen it in the magazines and on television. This is the image that the media portrays when they place a woman on the beach looking beautiful even though she spent all day in the sun and swimming in the water. You know, the gorgeously wind blown hair, the sparkling eyes, hair, and skin. Maybe you have seen it in other places -- like the ads that show people in the mountains. (Yes, the wind is blowing their hair here too.) In real life, they're SO cold, but supposedly they just rolled out of bed, threw on some warm clothes, and went to the mountains for a hike. But wait, if you turn the page of the magazine or stay tuned for the rest of the commercial, you will see that they are advertising the specific products they want you to buy to achieve that natural, windblown hair look.

They let you know that if you want your hair or skin to look like that -- it's easy. All you have to do is purchase their all-natural products, each one for a small fee. What we all know is, those small fees can add up making it extremely expensive to buy everything they say that we need!

You can achieve that all-natural look by yourself and with items you already have in your house!

The advertisements also don't tell you that the models they show in the magazine have just been pampered for hours by professional hair and make-up artists using expensive products. I don't know about you, but when I get ready in the morning I do it alone. I also do not have enough money to purchase all the products they say I need.

I'll let you in on a secret. You don't need all those products or the professional help to mimic the natural look. I bet if you look around your house, you will find exactly what you need for free!

Summer Hair Care
In the summer when you want to make you hair have that sun kissed look, a special sun touched name kind of spray is what they suggest you buy. These sprays are expensive, and they can dry out your hair. You can actually mix lemon juice with a dab of conditioner to get the desired effect. Simply comb the combination through your hair when you come out of the water and let the sun shine in!

Winter Hair Care
In the winter, the cold wind can be harsh on your hair, tending to dry it out. When you step out of the shower take a small amount of mayonnaise, comb it through your hair, wrap your hair in a warm towel for about fifteen minutes and then rinse it out. This is a simple substitute for a deep conditioner.

Strong Nails
Your nails are the easiest to take care of naturally! For strong nails, drink a glass of milk everyday, the calcium in milk is what makes your nails strong and not brittle.

Facial Mask
You can make an easy apricot mud mask to give yourself that healthy glow. All you need is two apricots and a little olive oil! Mash the apricots with the backside of a spoon. Then add a touch of the olive oil to turn the mixture into a paste. Now simply apply to your face for five minutes then rinse. Easy right? Cheap too!

You can achieve that all-natural look by yourself and with items you already have in your house! So go give it a whirl and naturally, remember to have fun!
