Did you know that when people first meet you they form up to 11 different opinions about you in the first 60 seconds?

People make judgments about what kind of person you are, even about your moral character from their very first impression of you. And unfortunately, most of this is usually based on how you look! It shouldn't be, but it IS! Like my mom always said.... You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Obviously then, you'll want to make a good impression . That's almost impossible to do if you don't have a good image of yourself to begin with!

Most of us have been media-fed the idea that we can and should be a certain shape. If we aren't that certain so-called perfect shape, then we should try to reshape ourselves. Guess what? This just isn't going to happen! Sure you can keep your body at a healthy weight, not too heavy, not too skinny, but beyond that... we're talkin' genetics. ENJOY the shape that you have. Discover the clothes that are especially flattering and fun for YOUR shape to wear and then feel good about yourself. Yes, yes, I know, you want me to remember that how you look affects how you feel about yourself.

But I want YOU to remember that how you feel about yourself REALLY affects how you look!

Have you ever had a day when everyone told you that your hair looked fabulous? AND it was a day that you didn't have time to wash your hair OR you really, really, needed a haircut? Why did people think that you looked so good that day? Probably because you were FEELING good about yourself. Maybe it was a day when you were happy no matter what your hair was looking like!

Finding closthes that flatter your body is important whether you are looking at bathing suits or school clothes or work clothes.

Which Body Type Are You?

Rectangle Body Types
are relatively rare and are characterized by a well-shaped, but less curvy body shape. Rectangle bodies are not necessarily petite or short. They usually gain weight in their abdomen, thighs and love handle areas. Shoulder pads and clothing that is poofed at the hips look GREAT on girls with a rectangle body shape. Belts and knitwear will also look good on you AND beautifully define your shape as well.

Triangle Body Types
are better known as pear shapes. People with this shape usually have a lower torso that is pronounced, a flat stomach and a prominent rear that is one to two sizes larger than their upper torso. Triangles tend to gain weight in their rears and thighs and are prone to saddlebags while their stomachs remain relatively flat and their waists small. Triangle types can also wear shoulder pads. Tops that look way too wide on other body shapes look awesome on triangles! Triangles can also choose styles that focus on the waist. After all, why not show it off?!! Other lookin-good triangle fashions include pleated pants, blouses with a lot of detailing and longer jackets.

Hourglass Body Types
have the most balanced body with fairly wide shoulders, defined waists and rounded hips. If an hourglass gains weight, it is usually in the love handles, stomach and thighs but a small waist remains apparent. Hourglass types that are not overweight look fantastic in just about any style they choose because their shoulders and hips are proportionately balanced. Hourglass types should accentuate the positive with smart tailoring. For a sleek look, wear shorter, tapered shirts and jackets nipped at the waist. Other good fashion choices include long and fitted jackets, tapered slacks, and straight skirts.

Wedge Body Types
have broad shoulders, flat rears and a rather tapered and defined waist. Wedge types have a tendency to have rather large breasts. If a wedge gains weight it is more likely to show on her stomach, breasts and arms with her rear remaining flat and her thighs proportional and slender. Wedge bodies can focus on styles that show off their narrow hips. Tapered dresses look great on the wedge body type. Big shirts or sweaters over slim skirts and unbelted chemises are also good choices.

The best look FOR ALL BODY TYPES is to always wear clothing that is the right size and fits well. Many girls who feel that they are overweight think that wearing larger fitting clothing will make them look thinner. This is not the case. All this will do is to make you look larger than you actually are and often boxy as well! The same applies when clothes are too tight. So remember, don't try to escape your shape... ENJOY IT!!!
